HUBZone Caucus:

As you know, I founded the HUBZone Caucus last year along with Rep. Alan Mollohan in an effort to protect and promote the HUBZone program. The HUBZone program uses federal contract awards to increase employment opportunities, investment, and economic development in those areas of our nation where jobs are most needed. It is based on the economic needs of an entire community. Almost all HUBZone contracts are competitively awarded, and each is awarded at a fair market price. There are over 8,000 HUBZones throughout the Unite Sates. They are located in virtually every Congressional district and include urban areas, rural areas, and every Indian reservation. In fact, most districts contain multiple HUBZones.

In creating the HUBZone program, Congress had a vision that it would be a major contributor to reducing poverty in America. When the program is fully implemented, federal contracts worth an estimated $7 billion will be awarded annually in HUBZone regions. These contracts will change the quality of life for millions of our citizens
